Part II Chapter 6: The Reunion: Part III
“Who are you?”
“Allow me to ‘shed a little light’ on the situation.”
With what seemed to be a snap of fingers, many torches lit. Marcus looked around his new location. Turning around and around to note the cavern he was in. There were rotten human appendages on the floor blood drawings on the walls, and a woman; a naked woman; a beautiful, naked woman, slightly chilled with out all her fur.
All Marcus could do was to stare at her. He couldn’t place it. He knew her, but how? He hadn’t had relations with her that he knew of. This beautiful woman, this amazing specimen of womanhood, stood before Marcus, and he didn’t know her.
Kritzia delicately picked up her dress from the makeshift throne that she was sitting on. She slipped into the dress and turned to offer her back to Marcus while lifting her long, flowing hair out of the way. He paused, and then fastened her dress at the neck line.
Kritzia sat on her makeshift throne, with one leg over the left side, eyeing her new guest.
“You still don’t know me, do you, Marcus?”
As Marcus stared at this woman, this amazingly beautiful woman, it clicked.
“K - Kritzia?” He asked with a shocked look.
She flashed him a seductive look of approval, and a grin.
“You died! The farmers buried your body!”
“Did they, now? Did you see my body at the funeral?”
“Well, no. There really wasn’t a funeral, but they buried your body.”
“No funeral?” Kritzia asked disappointedly.
Marcus approached Kritzia, squatting down next to her, touching her hand. It was cold, like death itself. The thought sent shivers down his spine, but he did not let go. He tried to comfort her with what seemed like meaningless words.
“They said you were dead. After you were… banished, they said it was best to keep it quiet. We could pray for you in our own way. Many of us did.”
“Did you?”
“Yes.”
“Have you, since then?”
“Many times.”
“Did you love me?”
“Yes.” Marcus looked away.
Kritzia stroked his disheveled hair, asking: “Do you still?”
